About Pelvic Floor Yoga

We sit on it every day. It is responsible for supporting so many vital organs and functions. It plays a vital role in helping bring new life into the world. But often, it isn’t until something isn’t working right, that we start to pay attention.

If you’ve suffered from one of the myriad of core and pelvic floor related dysfunctions (incontinence, constipation, prolapse, distasis recti, lower back pain), are in postpartum recovery, or manage a painful uterine condition, then you may have spoken to your family doctor about your options, seen a physiotherapist, maybe even had surgical intervention offered. Maybe, felt a little lost, alone, and unsure where to go for support, but you are not alone.

If you’ve ever been told to, “engage your pelvic floor,” wondered what to do, and found yourself squirming and squeezing all over, you aren’t alone! In my classes I pull out anatomy sheets, and props to arm YOU with real education on your body. So the next time you hear these cues, you can feel confident you know the anatomy, and are doing the exercises effectively.

Pelvic Floor Yoga

Pelvic Floor Yoga, has much to offer in the way of stabilization exercises, working with your breath, helping you to engage internally, to better understand how your muscles, and organs work together to support each other, bringing you back to a sense of wholeness. Learn where your weaknesses are, (whether you are hypertonic, hypotonic, or a combination), and how to release tension in the right way, so you can begin to strengthen your pelvic floor, in a safe, and balanced manner. Become stronger, more confident, in your body, as well as your mind, and your soul, as you learn to tune in to these areas that have too long been misunderstood.

More Than Just Physical Rehabilitation

Pelvic health and stability is more than just about physical balancing, and can sometimes be about emotional and spiritual healing.

We carry a lot of extra weight in life, (of our own, and for others) and that can sometimes manifest physically. We each have unique stories, and deserve a safe, and open space to share them. Or even just welcoming spaces in which to be ourselves, as we work through them internally.

In these courses, I strive to provide the same gentle care, as I put into the physical approach to rehabilitation, into addressing the heart of these areas, that may need healing too. Together, we are stronger, healers, supporting one another, and sharing in this can be an immense gift.
